Civic Duty
Yesterday I was chosen to be on a jury in a trial that went all day yesterday and will continue today. It is my first time on a jury, and has been a very interesting experience. Of course, I cannot talk about it until it is over.
Today is a day for another civic duty--the duty to vote. I already cast my ballot in early voting, and I'll probably have the TV on this evening as the polls start closing. I don't expect we'll know anything final today unless it is a landslide. I personally don't expect one, but these days you never know.
I know many Christians are concerned about this election. I am not. Now, don't get me wrong. I have my preference and I did cast my vote. But my faith is not in a politician from either party. My faith is in the one who gets no votes, the one who is King of Kings from birth. My faith is in the one who--as Tony Evans said, "Didn't come to take sides. He came to take over!"
So take heart and do not fear the outcome of the election. The heart of the king is always in the hand of the Lord. He puts people in power, and He takes them out of power, all for His purposes.
Nevertheless, be sure to do your duty today and vote.

Steve,
Very well said. Good to hear your "pastor voice" is still there! Keep it up, on the Blog, and elsewhere.... use those God-given gifts for the Body of Christ. We need you! You may not be a pastor on staff at our church, but you still have great influence over many.
Keep blogging and let us "hear" your gifts... used to continue to encourage and influence people!
I voted, then watched the unveiling. Today, it's back to living and serving the LORD, wherever He calls me...
Blessings abundant being prayed for you and family! :-)
